Today was our third day in New York and we decided to do a shopping spree down Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue is a major thoroughfare going through the borough of Manhattan. The main section of the street has just about every designer brand you can think of including the most famous store from the film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Tiffany & Co. Everyone knows about it. Every New Yorker, every cab driver, every tourist simply knows about it. It was a cold, windy day but we managed to keep warm as we walked from store to store. Our first store we popped into was the Apple Store Cube on the corner of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue. This store is recognised by its distinctive glass cube in which people go down a spiral staircase to see Apple’s products. There is an escalator if you are lazy. It was such a nice store and we were greeted by friendly Apple staffs. Our second store we entered was the famous Tiffany & Co. store. This was a really cool moment as personally I never had much of an interest in jewellery but after receiving a Tiffany & Co. ring from David for our first anniversary, I actually love their products. Inside, it was just like Christmas. Christmas trees and cute little blue boxes with silver bows on them were everywhere among people. We headed to the third floor where the men’s jewellery were and inspected their collection. I promised David I would think about buying him something from Tiffany & Co. as a Christmas present. After deciding on a ring with David, I decided to buy it. He was very happy. After that, we continued our stroll down Fifth Avenue checking out the various stores along the street. When it was lunchtime, we decided to head to Time Square and have lunch at the Olive Garden. Time Square sure is different and a lot less busier during the day than at nighttime. After lunch we continued our shopping spree until it got colder and darker.
While we may seem like we didn’t do much today, shopping in New York City is something that everyone has to do.
