I have been a die-hard Harry Potter fan for as long as I can remember. I was 8 when the first movie opened in theatres and I went to see it with my primary school wayyy back in Bathurst.
I will never forget how enchanting the novels and the movies were, I was transported into Hogwarts, a school for witchcraft and wizardry, and forever into the life of a young boy named Harry Potter.
I’ve read all 7 books (a few times) and watched all 8 movies (countless times) and yeah, I have a deathly hallow tattoo.
People often ask me why I have such an “obsession” with Harry Potter. And why so many other do as well. My best explanation is this: Harry Potter has been the longest and most consistent passion in my life. I basically grew up right alongside the lead actors of the film.
Today David and myself visited the Harry Potter’s Warner Bros. Studio Tour. The tour is located about 45 minutes from London. Their “The Making of Harry Potter” tour features props, costumes and complete movie sets from the filming of all 8 Harry Potter movies. While I have been back in 2012, I was in for a surprise! There was new props and movie sets added that I had not previously before seen.
It was like stepping into a dream. Everywhere I turned, the wizarding world of Harry Potter surrounded me. Everything from the “Cupboard Under the Stairs” to the iconic “Great Hall” to costumes worn by actors and actresses, to the original Nimbus 2000, 2001 and the Firebolt! Even the “Hogwarts Express” was there.
For 3 hours, we revisited the childhood fantasies we had of this special place. We gazed at our reflection in the Mirror of Erised. We got our Hogwarts letter. We even got to drink a sweet glass of butterbeer!
If you ever plan on going to Harry Potter WB Studio Tour one day soon, please stop reading.
